A former church is refurbished into a house.

How to use traces of the old for the benefit of the new?
The so called ‘collective feeling’ of a church was the reason to design an open living floorplan (loft type).

Echos of sacred forms were the inspiration to design the cooking island and other furniture.

The old wooden church floor is re used as wall cladding in order to give the big open space an intimate feeling. The floor panels have not been interfered with, so authentic traces of use in church are still present.
