El Rodeo is a rural community in the Central Valley of Costa Rica. The design is quite simple: a circular floor plan symbolizing community and gathering, and enclosed by a wall made of ventilation brick and reinforced concrete frame. The roof is proposed of a material made from recycled milk containers and in layers to recall a flower as a symbol of nature. The roof is supported by a light weight steel structure. The roof is pitched with long overhangs to respond to the local tropical climate. The rest of the site will be a park from which soccer matches may be watched.
