A community centre is a place that is specially provided for the people, groups, and organizations in a particular area, where they can go in order to meet one another and do things. Tempat Catuk Semai (Semai Community Centre) is a place that they accommodate unstructured social interactions among different age groups,
backgrounds, races, religions and provide space to offer more structured activities. By providing opportunities for the community to participate in recreational and cultural activities as well as get to know the Semai community more closely. This center helps the Semai community develop their physical, social, emotional, and cognitive abilities and to experience achievement, fun, friendship, and recognition.

Intention
- To build a tropical architecture through the adaptation of sustainable, passive design.
- To create an iconic structure that represents the uniqueness of Semai culture

Objective
- Cultivate a sense of belonging and not being marginized

Aim
- Focusing on and strengthening the culture of the indigenous communities ‘Suku Semai to create an impact on the community and aims to equip them with life skills, opportunities to meet people from various backgrounds, get new experiences.

Architect Statement
-Malaysia is a multi-racial country. Unfortunately, most of the people has never heard of Suku Semai’s culture. The idea of the space is to create a community centre that embedded the culture of Suku Semai. Hence, Tempat Catuk Semai is going to introduce the culture of Suku Semai which enable the visitors to experience and learn about the culture of Suku Semai.

Using a local material which is bamboo, wood and 'bertam'. The land area for this site is 13319 sqm and the floor area is 2500m2.
