Innovating in a certain context means shifting paradigm and thinking holistically. Called to design a classic mix-use low size complex, shops -housing- and office that will be offered for rental, we thought of striving for simplicity by reinterpretation of Biophilic design and the use of natural elements as our first step…

Located in Mbankomo is a city in the central region of Cameroon, now connected by urban expansion to the capital Yaoundé..! the project will be installed in a poorly planned environment, in which the density of the future urban fabric is not yet taken into account.. . If we made the demographic projection, the capital and its peripherals will be the largest agglomeration and concentration of population in central Africa by 2030 ..! it is, therefore, a question of creating in isolated way response elements that can be combined by progressive improvement of the solutions to generate from bottom to top a landscape and a sustainable city or at least with a green tendency... in which we integrate the human in the urban or vice versa...

It was initially an area of dense tropical forest, an integral part of the Congo Basin, but which today, due to deforestation, finds itself exposed to the direct impacts of all-out urbanization and the name mastery of the geographical context in the establishment building...!

The context does not allow us to redefine the functional principles linked to the request but introduces the progressive transformation of the facades, and the skins ..! we can offer identity and coherence from the analysis of climatic files and the environmental context ... And to this, we associate the intelligence of use of locally findable materials such as laterite ...

Natural and local materials like bamboo layer parametric design pergola, to create sunshade and reshape the space daily, with shadows in motion and movement ..!

We lack recreational spaces in cities, and with the pandemic impact, we're missing the few we have. So despite the financial restrictions, while designing this project, we thought of taking advantage of the rooftop to be able to offer more outdoor space..! it can be managed only for the building during a crisis, but as a functional connection from the roads is also possible, extending the cities for people live style..!

2020

For durability and comfort, Bamboo is of great use, it can be used for all uses from structure to furniture ...!
In tropical areas in particular, where the material grows easily, it is an economical solution for cladding and shading ...

As part of the LMPC project, bamboo was used for sunshade and pergola. this is in response to the climate analysis. its association with the compressed lateritic earth blocks and the greening of the terraces creates an efficient and natural microclimate. Much better than conventional artificial insulation. because totally the needs for actual conditions and 15% of the energy needs for air conditioning according to an energy simulation projected for the conditions of 2050…
