PROJECT OF THE SEAT OF THE UNION OF POLISH ARCHITECTS IN LODZ ON PIOTRKOWSKA 138/140 STREET. CONTAINS OFFICES, RESTAURANT, LIBRARY AND EXHIBITION HALL.

LOCALIZATION ON THE HISTORIC STREET BETWEEN OLD TENEMENT HOUSES IMPOSES MANY LIMITATIONS ON THE FORM OF THE DESIGNING BUILDING. DUE TO THIS FACT THE FRONT ELEVATION IS AUSTERE AND FLAT, MADE WITH SIMIALAR MATERIALS TO THE NEARBY TENEMENTS AS WELL AS NOT VIEING WITH THEM. DESIGNED BUILDING REFERS TO THE HISTORICAL DISTRIBUTION OF THE DEVELOPING PLOT ON TWO SMALLER ONES. TWO PARTS OF THE BUILDING: ONE FROM THE SANDSTONE -VERTICAL AND ONE FROM CONCRETE - HORIZONTAL ARE CONNECTED WITH EACH OTHER BY BIG GLASS FOYER OPENING FOR THE INSIDE OF THE PLOT IN WHICH IS SEEN THE HISTORIC COTTON FACTORY OF FRANCISZEK RAMISCH. THE RULE OF CONTRASTING TWO PARTS OF THE BUILDING IS VISIBLE ALSO IN THE INTERIORS. THERE WAS A BIGGER FREEDOM AVIABLE WHILE FORMING THEM. AN OFFICE PART WITH A SYSTEMATIZED GRID IS SET IN OPPOSITION TO THE PART WITH THE PUB, LIBRARY AND EXHIBITION HALL INSIDE WHICH ASSUMES MORE ‘FLOWING’ SHAPES
