Award of The Regional Center for Educational Quality and Excellence Competition to Günay and Sunay Erdem.
Erdem Architects who made a name for themselves with the awards they had received from the USA, are now back from Saudi Arabian industrial city with third place award. Project of Erdem Architects took %52 of the votes of the jury in the international competition. The most important feature of the project is that the cooling the hot air which is the typical for Arabian peninsula and taking it into the structure. For this they aim to cover the structure and its court with a huge eaves for protection from the sun. Square cavities which in the eaves are designed with rhythm of fractal number. This rhythm which support of palm trees, is creating a structure which is combined with the green. This work is a brand new perspective to the trending green building concept. This is the 47. award of the Erdem architects internationally and domestically. Günay Erdem and Sunay Erdem had awards in four continents before, and with this award and with this award they received their first award in the Arabian Peninsula.
