A new exhibition, titled "The Museum of Architecture's Gingerbread City", takes you a playful journey made not from building materials but edible ingredients - sugar, spice, liquorice, Jelly Babies and icing to create an edible city.

Showcased at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, Zaha Hadid Architects and Foster + Partners are among the designers contributing to the exhibition with their designs to gingerbread city of the future.

Made entirely out of gingerbread, the exhibition is curated by the London Museum of Architecture (MoA), will be on display in the Victoria & Albert Museum until January 6th, 2019.

The Gingerbread City is an annual exhibition where architects, designers and engineers create an entire city made of gingerbread. Created by the Museum of Architecture, the aim of the showcase is to connect the public with architecture through an innovative display designed for the holiday season.

The exhibition consists of over 60 gingerbread buildings, ranging from futuristic tower blocks, lightened bridges, sport facilities to a modern homeless shelter. Creating a miniature of edible city, the exhibition aims to open conversation around architecture and how our current urbanism can be tasteful and funny.

The city masterplan on the exhibition has been designed by Tibbalds Planning and Urban Design. Each year, key UK-based architecture practices are invited to respond to the masterplan by designing buildings, parks and public spaces as well as baking them out of gingerbread.

The exhibition is realized as MoA's annual fundraising project that supports its year-long programming and activities.
