TORANA

From the inception of human civilization the existence of entry existed explicitly or implicitly. Its evaluation and expression as a connotation gradually became primordial for architecture. From Hindu temple to Buddhist monasteries to Christian church to Muslim mosque to feudal fortification, entry or “Torana” or the gate way became the symbol of connection and transformation from terrestrial to celestial or the other way.
Similarly the entry of this 1.5 million square feet land area housing project at Tamabil, Sylhet, a north east district of Bangladesh is also an outcome of a precedence and perennial journey. Here the entry has been considered very carefully symbolizing the start of a homeostasis future for the dwellers and the visitors.
