Design Date: February 2002.
Construction Period: May 2003 to June 2005.

Mount Cinnamon, is an estate bungalow, built on a hillock, off the south coast of Sri Lanka. It has
spectacular views of sunrises and sunsets, the southern sea beyond the Weligama Bay, also of rice paddy,
tea, coconut, rubber and hillocks in the distant.

The client. Miles Young, was trained as an historian, and keen to make the Sri Lankan origin of
Cinnamon known internationally. Hence there is a visitor center, which was completed in January 2009,
and a public museum related to cinnamon, which will open in April 2010. He is also keen to provide better
living conditions to the workers. So far, two cinnamon peeler cottages have been built, where the
workspace for peeling cinnamon is downstairs; along with three agricultural worker quarters, all which
perhaps will set a standard for others to follow.
