2009 Competition Entry + DawnTown Meterover Elevated Railway Station and Track design. + Location: Miami, Florida - USA + The exisiting station and track was constructed 20 years ago and is since closed. The new station is positioned between two new structures, the Science and Art Museums. With these modern structures, the new station will act as an arrival location and therefore become a coherent landmark. ACCD developed a structure which is light and airy within the environment. The new station is automated, including the unique roof system which will flood with natural light and provide a sense of security at night. The two levels are open with a connecting central cylinder. At the second level, the cylindrical element will function as the washroom and the ground level element will act as a self-serving ticket office. The new railway track system is designed to visually appear light and unnoticed as it slips throughout the Biscayne Bay area. In addition, ACCD redesigned the railway track system to incorporated a one train, one rail concept in lieu of a one train, two rail track thus providing a subtle approach to advanced technological advances.
