In 1985 we undertook the design of a wine-making complex for I. Boutaris & Son in Megalohori in Santorini. The complex was situated next to the cliffs of Caldera and was surrounded by vineyards. It consisted of a modern winery and tank, an administration building, an exhibition and sales area and an indoor amphitheatre named `Tholos`. Wine tasting and the projection of an audiovisual presentation on the history of the island, the viniculture and the production of the wine take place in the Tholos. The wine tasting venues surround the amphitheatre in a circular arrangement. Tholos has been repeatedly published by the press. Construction supervision was realized through a close collaboration of our practice with an engineer on site.
