Clarion Hotel Energy is now open for guests

Last week, on August 20th, Clarion Hotel Energy in Stavanger opened for guests. The hotel is one of the first in the area with the Norwegian energy classification A.

In 2012, Snøhetta was commissioned for a volume and concept study for a hotel and conference center in Stavanger, Norway. Clarion Hotel Energy was completed and opened for guests on August 20th 2014. The hotel is one of the first in its area with the Norwegian energy classification A.

The building’s volume is divided into two main elements where two volumes have distinct characters, and are also separated in function. First there is a two story high base volume of concrete with a roof cover of river stone containing the public areas such as foyer, restaurant, and a conference center.

Above the base it is facilitated for 410 hotel rooms, a lamella volume with a tilted roof that extends from its highest northern point of 7 stories to its lowers point of 5 stories towards south.

The lamella volume is designed with reflective metal facades of natural anodized aluminum. The façade design has its inspiration from Stavanger’s role as a former center for the fishing and canning industries.
