International Student Competition:UIA-HYP CUP 2015

The School of Architecture and the University of Tianjin and the Chinese press group, Urban Environmental Design (UED), have announced the fourth edition of the annual international competition open to students of architecture world wide: the UIA-HYP Cup 2015. The competition is organized with the endorsement of the UIA.

In keeping with the general theme of the competition, German architect Meinhard von Gerkan has defined this year’s program: “Place, Tradition and Modernism in Conceptual Unity and Diversity.” The projects should address science in the contemporary world and use culture, geography, landscape and climate as references points. Two sites in northern China and one in the south have been suggested to the competition participants. They may also choose the site for their project.

Meinhard von Gerkan will preside over the jury alongside Chinese architect Cui Kai, who will represent the UIA. 

Prizes
Twelve prizes will be awarded. A First Prize of around 15 000 US $; three Second Prizes of around 5 000 US $; eight Third Prizes amounting to about 1 700 US$. Twenty Honorable Mentions will also be attributed.

Conditions For Participation
The competition is open to students enrolled in any accredited school of architecture in the world. The language of the competition is English. There is no registration fee. The projects, in digital form, should be sent by e-mail.
