From images of far flung cities and grand landscapes to snapshots of every day street scenes, RIBA with the Barbican hosts a visual journey and discussion charting the photographs that transformed architecture and the way we look at buildings. 

For over 150 years photography has been a popular means by which to  capture the world around us. From large-scale portraits of far flung cities and unknown lands to snapshots of every day street scenes, the creation and widespread reproduction of photographic images has transformed our understanding of places and people, but what impact has it had on architecture and buildings? In partnership with the Barbican, RIBA hosts a visual journey and discussion charting the photographs that changed architecture and the way we look at buildings.

With contributions and images chosen by Architecture and design critic at The Guardian Oliver Wainwright, author Owen Hatherley, photographer Rut Blees Luxemburg, former Director of the British Architectural Library Dr Irena Murray and Head of Central St Martins Prof.Jeremy Till. Chaired by Vicky Richardson, Director of Architecture, Design, Fashion at British Council.

Hosted in partnership with The Barbican.
