Innovate, disrupt, & take risks

Day 1: May 19, 8:15–10:00 a.m.

It's not a joke, really! Kevin Spacey will be the keynote speaker at AIA Convention 2016, is the architecture and design event of the year. It’s big, it’s exciting, and it’s where your community comes together for an incredible experience. AIA Convention 2016 will be held 19-21 May, 2016 in Philadelphia. Keynoters include architect and MIT professor Neri Oxman and she’s keynoting Day 2 at convention. She leads an event filled with visionaries, grassroots champions, change agents, and rising stars—all giving dynamic presentations, offering insightful education, and answering your questions. However, the most interesting name was announced in AIA Convention 2016 Press Information and Kevin Spacey:

What can architects learn from an award-winning producer and actor whose Netflix Original Series made appointment TV obsolete?
A lot.
Kevin Spacey’s talent for disruption and drive to challenge the status quo distinguishes his incredible career.
He’s famous for creating a range of complex and memorable characters including Keyser Söze (The Usual Suspects) and Senator Frank Underwood (House of Cards). For revolutionizing TV drama with the debut of Netflix’s first original series. And for leaving Hollywood to become the Artistic Director of the Old Vic Theater in London after winning an Oscar for American Beauty.
These are just a few examples from his illustrious career, and at the crux of it is a man who is constantly innovating and looking for new challenges, just like architects.
This keynote is where you learn to be a game changer from a master innovator, collaborator, and disruptor.
In 2014, Spacey was named one of Forbes “Most Powerful Celebrities” and was the first online-only TV series star to make the list. Most recently, he was awarded an Honorary Knighthood by Her Majesty the Queen.
Perhaps no one in Hollywood works harder to defend the value and integrity of the arts. He believes that the creative arts are essential and the lifeblood of a nation. And through his foundation, he’s providing opportunities for a new generation of writers, actors, and filmmakers.
We all have something to learn from Kevin Spacey. Don’t miss the incredible opportunity to hear him speak at AIA Convention 2016.
